My name is Nabil Katrajian. I am an experienced architect with over 30 years in the Architecture and Engineering industry making architectural and engineering models. Working for HDR, one of the largest architecture firms in the country, I led the model shop, and designed, engineered, constructed, and managed a wide range and types of models, at all scales and sizes for domestic and international projects.

I am proficient with a variety of media and technology, and dedicated to the craft of building architectural models that bring design to life, from simple massing to the most complex presentation models. These include models for commercial, residential, master planning, health care, institutional, civic, laboratory, and engineering projects, and employ various techniques such as wood working, CNC milling, laser and 3D printing. I offer lighted models, using LED lighting, as well as model photography.

Design excellence starts with a big idea. That’s why I endorse the use of concept models early in the design process. These three-dimensional models make it easy for colleagues, and clients, to visualize the design, uncover and resolve challenges and ultimately, to cost-effectively improve the design before committing to hardline documentation. 

In addition to building models, I offer laser cut kits-of-parts that you can assemble yourself, and I am available to consult with you as you set up your own model shop.
